The New York Times further detailed these contributions on August 1, explaining OpenAI initially raised $2.5 billion from venture capital firms in March. Although an additional $7.5 billion was planned, the total capital was secured earlier than expected, surpassing initial projections.

Beyond its successful fundraising, OpenAI has demonstrated remarkable financial growth throughout this year. The Information reported the company doubled its revenue in the first seven months, reaching an annualized figure of $12 billion.
The New York Times also highlighted a current revenue jump to $13 billion, up from $10 billion in June, with projections anticipating a remarkable $20 billion by the close of this year.
Driving this expansion is the ambitious “Project Stargate,” initiated by OpenAI earlier in the year. This colossal $500 billion undertaking aims to construct advanced artificial intelligence infrastructure across the United States.
